Celebrate Mom | Visit Whistler on Mother’s Day
Mothers. Where would we be without them?
These special women in our lives have (quite literally) been there since day one. They work hard, they love us unconditionally and they don’t hesitate to go above and beyond for their family.
A bouquet of flowers on Mother’s Day is a ‘nice’ gesture, but we know you can do much better than that this year.
Whether it’s indulging in a relaxing spa massage, savouring a gourmet meal, or enjoying the beauty of nature – we know just the place where Mom can take advantage of all these luxuries and so much more.
This Year, Why Not Treat Mom to Mother’s Day in Whistler?
Not quite sure where to start? Just leave the planning to us. We’ve created a mom-approved Whistler itinerary that will be sure to make for a Mother’s Day celebration she’ll never forget.
Mother’s Day in Whistler: “But first, brunch!”
First things first. Let’s start Mother’s Day with the most important meal of the day – brunch.
We’re not knocking breakfast in bed, but with an assortment of award-winning restaurants in the Whistler region, it seems a shame not to take advantage of the many delicious options available.
If you think Belgian waffles and egg white frittatas will make your mom’s taste buds tingle, then you’ll want to check out the Mother’s Day brunch at the Four Seasons or the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Wildflower Restaurant. Moms at the Fairmont even receive a complimentary mimosa – I think we can all say cheers to that.
If a cafe style brunch sounds more like your mom’s kind of thing then join her for a walk around Whistler Village and check out a few local favourites like Stonesedge Kitchen Whistler or Elements (we hear their eggs benny is to die for).
Don’t forget to make your reservation sooner than later because these brunch-favourite locations book up fast.Whistler in May may not be crowded, but the important holidays book out fast.
Whistler Mother’s Day Getaway: Activities for Every Type of Mom
Every mom is unique, and whether she’s looking for adventure, relaxation, or even a dose of culture, Whistler has something for everyone. No matter what lights her up, we’re sharing our suggested list of Mother’s Day activities that will be sure to put a smile on her face.
Mother’s Day Thrills for the Adventure-seeking Mom
Even after the ski season comes to a close, there’s still plenty of adventures to be had in Whistler this May.
Why not give Mom a sample of Whistler’s wild side and surprise her with a whitewater rafting trip? Rafting excursions are suitable for all experience levels and they’re family-friendly too. As you paddle through the rapids together you can take in the scenic surroundings and get your adrenaline pumping at the same time.
If your mom is really itching for a thrill, she might even fancy a scenic flight through the air as she braves Whistler’s most popular zip lining experience, Superfly Ziplines. This unique zipline experience allows not only one – but two adventurous souls to zoom down the mountainside side by side. To add to the experience you’ll also get to take in the breathtaking views at the top of Cougar Mountain.
f adventures on land are more her style, then hand mom a helmet and join her on an RZR tour. With mom at the helm of a 2-seat or 4-seat RZR, she can carve her way over rocks and mud and through West Coast rainforest as she reaches some of Whistler’s most breathtaking views — complete with snow-capped mountains and glacier-fed lakes.
Whistler Hikes for the Nature-loving Mom
For busy moms that are longing for a break from the hustle of everyday life, a solid dose of nature might be exactly what she needs to reset and restore.
With pristine wilderness all around, you won’t have far to go to escape into Whisler’s calming surrounds of nature. Whistler in May is the perfect time to be outside, even through a shower or two. With trails that seem to extend in every direction, Whistler offers a variety of hiking options— from gentle treks to heart-pumping climbs.
If you’re setting off from Whistler Village, you may want to join Mom for a walk along the Valley Trail which connects Whistler’s neighbourhoods through to Lost Lake Park. The trails quietly weave themselves though flowing creeks, and lush forested areas, with views of Whistler’s iconic mountain vistas in the foreground.
If you’re thinking of venturing further outside of the village, then set your sights on the Ancient Cedars Trail (north of the village) and Train Wreck Trail (south of the village). These stunning hikes will take you back in time as you walk amongst ancient cedars in the old growth forests.
A Mother’s Day Stroll Through Whistler Village
If a low key visit to Whistler this May is more what you had in mind for Mother’s Day, then an afternoon stroll through the village is always a good place to start
The shops, cafes, and local galleries are easily accessible through a series of pedestrian walkways that connect all areas of the village. With the help of Whistler’s Interactive Cultural Connector Interactive Map, you can join Mom in navigating her way to many local galleries and museums scattered throughout Whistler Village.
In addition to some retail therapy, you might even want to make a pitstop for a quick Mother’s Day selfie in front of the Olympic Rings, or a family photo next to budding cherry blossoms that often line the streets of Whistler every year in May.
Before calling it a day, treat mom to some tapas, and a drink of choice (maybe a coffee, a local brew, or a fancy cocktail) on one of the many local patios in the village. If the weather agrees (fingers-crossed) you might even get to soak in a little May sunshine while taking in all of the sights and sounds of the village.
A Mother’s Day Rest and at the Spa
Being a mom is a twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week kind of gig.e can’t think of anyone more deserving of a break from the ordinary.
Every mom needs some rest and relaxation which that’s why we saved this self-care themed Whistler activity for last — because Mother’s Day in Whistler isn’t complete without a visit to the Scandinave Spa Whistler.
Treat that special lady in your life to one of the spa’s many massage packages and then let her unwind and energize in the spa’s outdoor hydrotherapy pools. As your mom basks in the therapeutic waters of the Scandinavian baths, she can completely immerse herself in beauty and serenity of the spa’s natural surroundings. There is a no talking and cell phone policy at Scandinave Spa Whistler, which means Mom can finally disconnect and escape from it all.
And there you have it, from outdoor adventures to rejuvenating spa treatments and everything else in between, Whistler is your one-stop-shop for the perfect Mother’s Day. We have a feeling that your mom is going to enjoy her Mother’s Day in Whistler so much that it might even become an annual tradition.
