WA-proposal-in-Whistler

Stunning mountain peaks, beautiful vistas, softly snowing skies – who wouldn’t want to be proposed to in Whistler? Any corner of Whistler would do the trick but we’ve found the very best and most romantic locations for where to pop the question in Whistler for a guaranteed Yes!

Our Top Picks for the Perfect Proposal in Whistler

You could argue that every corner in Whistler Village, or every run down the slopes of Blackcomb make for the perfect backdrop. We are not here to argue. But we’ll give you a few alternative ideas as well, ideas to set the engagement off to a spectacular start.

  • Sleigh Ride

Imagine dashing through the snow in your very own private sleigh ride for two on Blackcomb Mountain. Watch snow falling around you as horses take you through the forests on Blackcomb Mountain and provide incredible views of the twinkling lights of the Village below. Stay warm and cozy under blankets while on the sleigh and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa next to a crackling fire at their halfway cabin. Propose in Whistler with Blackcomb Sleigh Rides for a winter wonderland memory to remember forever.

  • Helicopter Tour

Propose on top of a 12,000-year-old glacier while on a private helicopter tour with Blackcomb Helicopters! This unforgettable tour gives you an extraordinary bird’s eye view of Whistler Blackcomb resort followed by the beauty of the Cheakamus Glacier a unique perspective over Garibaldi Provincial Park. Stop on top of Rainbow Glacier for a fifteen-minute landing and let the magic happen followed by amazing engagement photos!

  • Bungee Jumping

Your adrenaline will be pumping like crazy in anticipation of the bungee jump and the proposal! Leave your fears behind and take the plunge over Whistler’s glacier-fed Cheakamus River. Two people can even jump together, so strap together and jump over the edge while you’re in each other’s arms. Choosing to propose before or after is up to you, and the best part is that there’s a photographer there to take photos of every jump so your partner will have no idea it’s coming! One thing to mention – hold on tight to that ring!

  • The Peak of Whistler Mountain

All year long, you’ll have access to the peak of Whistler Mountain via the Whistler Village Gondola then the Peak Express chairlift. At the top, take in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valley below and profess your love at the Inukshuk or while crossing the Skyraker Suspension Bridge (summer only). Either way, you’ll have Black Tusk in the background and a special memory any time you go up this chairlift. Hold a champagne toast when you’re back at the Roundhouse at Steeps Restaurant in the winter or during a Mountaintop Feast (weekends only) in the summer.

  • Private Snowmobile or RZR Tour

Hire a private guide for your Snowmobile or RZR Tour to enjoy the backcountry all to yourselves. Go at your own pace and spend some quality time together before pulling over at an incredible viewpoint and dropping to one knee. The guide can act as a photographer and snap some photos of the lovely couple wearing full-face helmets and big smiles as you race each other back to base.

  • Dinner at the Bearfoot Bistro

Barefoot bistro sets the mood for an after dinner proposal.

Located in the Listel Hotel, the Bearfoot Bistro is Whistler’s premier fine dining restaurant that has been serving patrons delicious food, wine, and cocktails for years. It’s a white tablecloth service and incredible food and ambience make it the perfect restaurant for a romantic dinner and unforgettable proposal.

Start the evening off with a trip to the Ketel One Ice Room where you’ll don winter jackets even in the middle of the summer to sample the finest vodkas in the world’s coldest vodka tasting room (-32 degrees Celsius!) or sabre champagne in the cellar to start the evening off with a bang.

  • Lakeside

On a quiet night, walking out onto a dock on the lake could be one of the most romantic gestures. Nita Lake, Alpha Lake, Lost Lake, and Green Lake all have docks you can walk out onto and when the sun is going down and the sky is lit up with sunset it could be the perfect time to propose in Whistler.

The backdrop would be magnificent with the mountains meeting the skies and the lake as still as glass. The most romantic spot would be at Lakeside Park on Alta Lake, just to the left there’s a stone alcove that is quiet and private and overlooks Rainbow Mountain and beyond – a truly special spot.

  • Proposal Corner

Yes, Whistler is home to our very own proposal corner.

Believe it or not, there’s actually a spot called Proposal Corner in Lost Lake Park. Halfway around the Lost Lake Loop, there’s a sign stating ‘Proposal Corner’ that could be the cue to get down on bended knee. In the winter, cross country ski or snowshoe to the famed corner or, in the summer a bike ride or walk will do. It may seem a bit obvious, but for those seeking an idea on where to propose in a lovely forested area – this may just be the sign you’re looking for!

  • Ziplining

In Whistler, the zipline tour with Superfly has lines that run parallel to each other so you can go down the zipline at the same time and stare longingly into each other’s eyes. The four lines are connected by platforms that look over the stunning valley of Cougar Mountain and beyond which could make for the perfect proposal spot. Or, right as you’re getting harnessed in and ready to take off, put the ring on her finger and take off into oblivion – that’s one way to settle the nerves!

  • Waterfalls

Whistler boasts some beautiful waterfalls that would be an amazing place to pop the question in a natural setting. Alexander Falls in the Callaghan Valley is a twenty-five-minute drive from Whistler Village and has a lovely platform that overlooks the falls.

Brandywine Falls is about the same distance away just off Highway 99 and is a spectacular waterfall that plunges seventy meters off a cliff. Rainbow Falls is a waterfall near Alta Lake that requires a short hike to get to but is a beautiful spot in the summer or winter.

Post Proposal Ideas for the Newly Engaged

The ring is on and it’s now time to celebrate! After calling friends and family and informing them of the good news, here are some ways to help celebrate before spending months planning the big day.

  • Heli-Skiing

Helicopters + Skiing = the best of both worlds: all the fresh powder and a sweet ride to get there without lift lines! Heli-skiing typically operates from December to early April and is a bucket list experience for those visiting Whistler – why not cross it off as a newly engaged couple! Choose from a 3, 4, or 6 Run Package that includes transportation to and from the Whistler base, lunch, avalanche safety equipment and experienced guides to take you on the adventure.

  • Scandinave Spa

Scandinave Spa, a relaxing destination for all 4 seasons.

Relax and unwind with a trip to the Scandinave Spa – a world-renowned spa just north of Whistler Village. Sink into hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms, refresh with a cold dip in one of their plunge pools, and rest next to fire pits, in solariums, or in hammocks. It is a silent spa that allows adults only, so you’ll hear nothing but the sounds of nature. Spend a few hours or the whole day – we recommend bringing along a book (no electronics allowed).

  • Axe Throwing

Let off some steam with a dose of healthy competition at Forged Axe Throwing in Function Junction. Enthusiastic hosts will show you the ropes and get you throwing axes like a pro in no time at all. Play games against each other in a race against the clock and each other and even work on your trick shots like throwing a big axe or throwing two at once. Time will fly by and you’ll walk away with a new skill you can take home!

  • Wine & Dine

Are there discounts for the newly engaged? Well, you can try! Show off that ring while eating incredible food and the finest wines at one of Whistler’s many fine dining restaurants. Sample Italian dishes at Il Caminetto, surf and turf at Rimrock Cafe, or dine alfresco at Red Door Bistro. They all boast impressive wine lists that compliment the food ever so nicely, and all three are super romantic and perfect for a special occasion.

  • Room Service and Relax

How about planning to do nothing at all? Hang out in the hotel’s robes, order room service, and watch a movie. Most high-end hotels have restaurants inside the hotel but if not, Whistler Dine In offers takeaway services from many restaurants in town. They’ll even offer liquor store delivery! Chow down on a pizza and pop the bubbly – you’re in Whistler, you can do whatever you want.

Finding where to pop the question in Whistler may seem daunting if you’re unfamiliar with the town, but you’ll soon see that finding a place to propose in Whistler could really be anywhere. It’ll be a place you’ll visit for years as it holds a special place in your mind and heart as the spot you got engaged. Luckily there’s so much to see and do in Whistler that a trip back won’t feel arduous at all and you’ll discover new things to do every time. Propose in Whistler – anywhere – for a guaranteed yes!
